Diablo Theatre Company kicked the level of dance in theatrical shows up several notches with the addition of Company C Contemporary Ballet to its production of "On the Town."
The professional dance company, led by Charles Anderson, added a wonderful pizzazz to the swinging 1940s tunes with lots of spins and lifts not normally seen in local musical theater. In addition to Company C, director Mindy Cooper had lots of talent to tell the story of three sailors on shore leave in New York City for one night.
Bryan McElroy, Ryan Drummond and Mark Farrell played the roles with style and were well matched with Courtney Iventosch, Emma Goldin and Hope Mirlis. Costumes by Carol Edlinger were to die for as was Robert Broadfoot's set. While Leonard Bernstein's music was less than memorable, the talented cast and superb dancers made this a fun night on the town. The show continues through Sept. 27. Call 925-943-SHOW.
